Every summer Luther
Memorial's LYO takes a trip. In the summer of 2006 we traveled to San Antonio
Texas for the
Youth Gathering. It was an awesome experience. There were 20,000 youth and
sponsors at the Alamodome every morning and evening for worship, music and
inspirational speakers. The musicians were the best of the best, Newsboys!
Katina's! Hawk Nelson!
SuperChik! Lost and Found! Agape! Krystal
Myers! Speakers shared their stories
of overcoming huge challenges with God's help, grace and mercy. One speaker had
escaped from slavery in
Sudan,
yes slavery is still active in many parts of the world, he
told his story and now
works through the church to help save
others. One speaker told of her history of abuse by family members and her
journey through Central America and Mexico on her
way to freedom from the abuse in the USA. Some of us found time in the
afternoons to check out the exhibits & educational opportunities, while others
"experienced" the interactive center. And we all found time to enjoy some great
Southwestern/Mexican food and do some sightseeing around San Antonio.
